Final Fantasy History
The video game series of Final Fantasy has been one of the most successful games
in the history of gaming; streaming from platform to platform. The original
Final Fantasy has had 13 installments; with the later soon to be released.
There also has been countless spin-offs of the game as well. Such titles are
the Crystal Chronicles series, the Final Fantasy Legend, and many more
featuring characters from the game in other games, and even games including a
mode of transportation(our fun-loving Chocobos.) The game first started its
release with Final Fantasy for NES in 1987 in Japan, and 1990 in North America.
Final Fantasy announced its arrival upon the world with the installment of
Final Fantasy 4(FF2 in North America.) Released in 1991 for the SNES, it was
the first of the series to create a huge story a long with multiple playing
characters. Three years later, Final Fantasy did it again with Final Fantasy
6(FF3 in North America.) The game incorporated the same success as FF4, with
multiple characters and a long story; but the graphics had improved drastically
from its predecessor, considering it was on the same system. After 10 years of
producing fantastic games, Nintendo passed the game to Sony; to be introduced
on the Sony Playstation. They released Final Fantasy 7 in 1997, which has had
various spin-offs of its own. The graphics were unmatched to other installments
on the series, and were in 3D. The storyline and gameplay are still favorites
to many fans. After another 4 years of success, Final Fantasy made its first
appearance on the Playstation 2. In 2001, Final Fantasy went off the charts
with its release of Final Fantasy 10. The game was the first in the series to
add voice acting to the characters. The final piece to the puzzle was added; as
it gave more detail to the playable characters. A year later, the series went
online, with Final Fantasy 11. The game has had great success in competition
with World of Warcraft. A great dispute still exists as to which game is
better. FF11 incorporates all aspects of the previous installments, and the
world of Vanadiel is the most expanded in the series to date. There are not
many people who haven’t heard of Final Fantasy these days, and we all know that
they can only have something more impressive for us in the future.
